How I Balance Motherhood and Entrepreneurship
This post is sponsored by McDonald’s, but the opinions expressed here are my own. The new McCafé espresso menu is available at participating McDonald’s.
One year ago after giving birth to my daughter and becoming a stay at home mom, I struggled a lot with finding time for myself. My days consisted of caring for my daughter and putting my family first. Those first few months of motherhood were very difficult, I always felt as if I was missing out. During those new moments of being a mom, I didn’t fully understand that being a mom doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice who you are, it’s all about creating balance tailored to your life. I learned that prioritizing quality time with myself is a must, and it still can be done. Before becoming a mom self-care was always part of my day and weekend routine. Before heading to class or work I would always pour myself a cup of coffee in my favorite coffee mug or head to McDonald's to order my favorite iced coffee. I would then spend a few minutes journaling, reading a book or being inspired from my favorite magazines.
When my daughter was 4 months old I decided to start my blog. I found that blogging has not only been therapeutic, but I loved it so much that I've been able to turn it into my business. Throughout the process of starting my blog, and balancing motherhood, I found that coffee has played a huge part in how I start my day and complete each task. Before starting my day I tend to my mommy duties and once my daughter is taken care of I always have my cup of coffee before any work gets done because nothing comes before coffee.
The McDonald’s in my neighborhood has a whole new remodeled look and I honestly LOVE the atmosphere. While I was there I noticed that McDonald’s has launched a new line of café-quality espresso drinks from McCafé. . They even added a the Caramel Macchiato and Vanilla Cappuccino. I’ve recently been indulging in their Iced Mocha and Mocha drinks to get my day started. The best part is that I don’t have to feel guilty for purchasing a small coffee every day because their small coffees are only $2*. Yes, you heard correctly! And, when you buy 5 any size McCafé beverages, you get one any size McCafé beverage free with the McDonald’s App. (Valid 1/18/17 - 12/31/17. McD App download and registration required. Even if you aren’t a mother, I would love to know some of your favorite ways to give back to yourself.
