How to Style a Kimono This Fall

P1050014.jpg

Fall is slowly approaching, I'm not sure if I'm excited or a little sad. More than anything I am anticipating 2019. This year for me has been a year of much change and transition.

From getting engaged, starting a new job that I absolutely love and then taking a pay cut, that really put my family and I in a pinch. And now we're in the process of planning our wedding!! Nonetheless, this year has had its highs and lows and I am truly grateful for every opportunity My favorite part about the fall weather is the clothes, that I can wear. A mixture of chunky knits paired with shorts, long flowy cardigans or kimonos like this one.

Kimonos are perfect for layering!

I think layers can be tricky, but it's all about proportions, textures, and colors. Paired with this combo you can still pull off a kimono look. Since kimonos are really popular during the  summer many of them are probably on sale.

Depending on where you're located you probably won't be experiencing any fall cooler weather until October or November giving you enough time to wear your kimono.

Chunky Knits

Knits are a great fall essential to have in your wardrobe, can easily be paired with shorts underneath a denim jacket, leather jacket or with a kimono. More than likely your kimono is probably a really fun print so I  recommend sticking with a solid color which will create a healthy balance.

Bodysuits, Camisoles Graphic & Basic Tees

Say you're not into sweaters, but would rather grunge it up a bit. You could stick with a neutral tee or go for a graphic or striped tee. I really like the idea of mixing florals with stripes or florals with a statement tee. You could also try t-shirts with a drop hem. As for bodysuits, I think they are perfect if you're looking for a more fitted look. I personally love to style my kimono with a bodysuit.

Mules, Ankle Booties & Block Heels

Mules are my prefered shoe of choice, but of course you can always opt for a pair of ankle boots or a block heel if you plan on dressing your look up a bit.

Floppy Hats

If you're feeling a bit boho, you could try a floppy hat, my hair is a little too big for a hat at the moment, so a hat would be a hassle. But there is a certain edge that a hat brings to a outfit.

Layered Necklaces

I am loving the layered necklaces trend, if you're not one to go all out when it comes to accessories, but every now and then love a good necklace or two. I def recommend trying this trend.

Wear your kimono as a top

You could also wear your kimono as a top, I've seen it done and it's by far my favorite way to wear it. Find a cute belt that compliments your kimono and wrap it around your waist. I would still recommend adding a bodysuit underneath a  nice fitted camisole so you won't feel completely naked.
