I have been slowly preparing my Winter wardrobe, trying to decide which items I’m going to toss, buy or pass up. I thought it would be a great idea, to gather some of my favorite winter pieces from that past and share them with you guys. You may notice that jackets, coats, and scarves really pull all of my outfits together.
For the most part when it comes to styling my outfits, I always start with the foundation. The foundation of my outfit varies, sometimes it consist of my shirt, or pants but for the most part it’s always the outer layer.
Printed Trench Coat
If you are a bit bored with the traditional style trench coat, you can always switch it up for a printed trench. I actually picked this one up from H&M last year, it’s a bit oversized so I got it in a size 2. I normally try to keep my outfit very simple when wearing this coat. Faux Fur Jacket
A Faux fur jacket is a must have if you want to easily glam up your basic pieces. I actually picked this one up from TJ Maxx for extremely cheap. They even had a green one. I’m hoping they have more options soon this year. I plan on adding a few more similar style jackets into my wardrobe this year. A faux fur jacket is even perfect for a holiday look paired with a leather skirt, dress or even pantsuit.
Combat boots are not for everyone, because they can be uncomfortable. To be honest, it took a while to break in these boots. But they were worth the splurge and pain. I’m still trying to decide how I want to plan these in the future because they are so high versus the ankle combat boots.
A Statement Bag
You can have on the most basic outfit, but if your bag is cute, then nothing matters! It’s all about accessories, in this case. Sometimes I skip over the accessories and prefer a fun statement bag.
These suede ankle boots was a impulse buy last year that I do not regret one bit. I got these from the urban outfitters outlet last year. Because they are suede they take some time to break in. I’ve honestly have been loving the more pointed toe ankle boots vs. the more rounded toe style.
Joggers are my go to! I love how they come in multiple styles now. So you can easily dress them up with a pair of heels ankle boots etc. If I am not wearing jeans, I am probably wearing a comfy pair of joggers this Winter.
Bodysuits are perfect for holiday parties etc. This baby is a velvet bodysuit with a deep plunge neckline which is a bit big so I always have to wrap it a bit. But, I love bodysuits because I don’t have to necessarily tuck them.
Over The Knee Boots
Over the knee boots goes along the line of having a statement bag. Over the knee boots always add a bit of edge to a simple pair of jeans, dress, or even shorts!
Although, I believe you should have a statement trench coat. You also need a simple neutral trench coat that can work well for a more business setting as well.
Shaggy cardigans are another statement piece that can add to the most simple top or bottom.
Crop sweaters are my fave, especially for when I am lounging around the house. I love to pair my sweaters with a high waisted bottom to cover up my stomach a bit.
Faux Fur Collar
My favorite faux fur collar always adds more funk to my coats. I actually paired this collar over my brown trench coat a few days ago and it was the perfect touch.
Leather jackets are a classic piece and will probably never go out of style.
Sweater dresses are perfect for lounging around the house in. Especially if work from home or are a stay at home mom.
Need I say more! I’ve styled this poncho cape multiple ways, I’ve even worn it over my trench coat as well as my shaggy cardigan for more warmth in this Chicago cold.
Recently I was in Michigan and needed a pair of jeans, that actually fit. If you are a curvy girl with a little bit of a but then you understand the trouble it is with finding jeans that you can not only get over your hips, but jeans that fits your waistline. That was me, I went into Marshalls which is one of my favorite stores and came across these magical American Eagle jeans! They are perfect and honestly go with all of my outfits. I actually need to purchase a second pair of these. I even bought an additional style of their jeans.
