Mommy & Me Self-Care  Activities

Now that India is much older and pretty much said that she’s done taking naps, I’ve had to adjust my self-care routine. In the beginning, this was frustrating trying to adjust, I’m a  working stay at home mom and those little moments to myself means alot to me. Even if you aren’t a stay at home mom, I’m sure you can relate that you really learn to cherish those moments to yourself. Recently, India has been up and reading to go at 6 am, that’s normally the time that I like to get my morning workout routine in. Also, since she isn’t napping anymore, I find that I’m much more exhausted closer to the end of the day trying to balance everything.

I’ve had my moments of frustration as a mom and it really is a sucky place to be, not feeling like you’re doing a great job. I went through a phase of feeling guilty for wanting more time to do the things that helped me feel like myself. After taking some time to pray about the situation and really figuring out a strategy that works for India and I came up with including her in my self-care routine. By doing this we both win, India gets to spend more time with me and I can do the things that I love to do.

This is the part of motherhood where you have to learn to balance it all in order for everyone to be happy. So my conclusion was to create a self-care routine for both of us, this is so much fun to do because it’s not only teaching her the importance of self-care but also it’s creating a closer bond and memories that she can to share with her children once she’s older.

Toddler Massages

My daughter was very colicky when she was a newborn, we tried everything warm baths, gripe water you name it we tried it. There were a few things that we found that soothed her. One of them I still do today because she absolutely loves it. Which is giving her a message.  She loves to get her little toes and back rubbed, often times this perfect to do before bedtime because it will definitely relax your little one. This is great to do after a warm bath since India has very dry skin, I like to mix her lotion with some type of oil.

Here are a few of the products we like to use for her toddler massage.

Toddler Pedicure

A few weeks ago, India kept pointing at a shelf in the bathroom and I had no clue what she wanted. After pulling everything off of the shelf to see what she wanted, I realized that she wanted her toes polished. Well actually she wanted her nails polished, but she still puts her hand in her mouth so, I decided to do a pedicure instead.

Journal Time

One of my favorite things to do is to journal. I’ve been journaling since I was about 12 years old. It’s one of those things I recommend for everyone, especially teens as that’s when I started. Journaling is so therapeutic and maybe one day I will write a whole blog post dedicated to my journaling routine. Whenever I pull out my journal, I always grab India her notebook and her art supplies. She loves to paint and prefers to use markers and when she’s creating.

Toddler Facials

I have a long five-step morning skincare routine that I love to do. While India watches, I decided that I would create a simple routine for her to do. After using up one of the facial serums I added some olive oil into one which makes her feel likes she’s using the same thing I’m using.
