I don’t know about you but when that time of month comes, I do not want to be bothered at all. Just give me a big blanket, coffee, and a good book or magazine and leave me alone please :)

I’m a mom now, so there’s really no such thing as quiet time, but I’ve managed to create a self-care routine that works for me and everyone in my household knows to let mama bear be.

I have the worst cramps ever! Which in return makes me very snappy, and slightly affects my appearance. Cozy clothes are a must I tend to avoid denim because stiff pants just makes the cramps much more painful.

Those first few days before my cycle starts I am a ” HOT MESS”. First, it involves me going to the store to purchase a bunch of junk food which is the reason why I get bloated :( Not only that, but I find myself very sensitive and snappy. Journaling really helps. To be honest, I love looking back at all of my journal meltdowns and laughing. I'm constantly writing out my thoughts so that way no one thinks i’m crazy, because in all honestly it’s just flo disrupting the peace :)

 

 

Self-Care Routine

 

Journaling: As I’ve already mentioned I am very big on journaling, but even more during this time. I am able to clear my thoughts, and sometimes journaling helps me come up with solutions for different situations.


 

Steam Showers: I know I am not the only one who LOVES my shower to be scorching hot! This helps to relieve my cramps and just overall makes me feel so much better and productive throughout the day. I love using shower gels that have a fruity or citrus smell, perfect for those early morning showers.


 

Magazines: I tend to collect my magazines throughout the month and stash them for this time.  I am always saving outfit inspirations for an upcoming blog post and I love creating a shopping list for upcoming shopping trips.


 

Drinks: Coffee is my drink of choice, but smoothies are a must for me! Normally I am just too tired and coffee doesn’t always help during this time. So for the evening time, I love to make a really fruity flavored smoothie.


Exercise: Ok, I know I  said that I have the worst cramps, but, I love to workout during this time, mainly strength training. It just helps, I feel more empowered and productive. Sometimes I do have to skip a workout or two, maybe for the entire five days. But, for the most part exercising is a must.
