Monthly Edit — Setup Guide

The Monthly Edit — Setup Guide

How to keep your shopping hub updated without touching any code

1

Create your "Monthly Edit" blog post

In Squarespace, create a new blog post. The title doesn't matter — call it something like "Monthly Edit Source" or "Shop Picks – May 2026."

Add this tag to the post:

monthly-edit

Publish it with a backdated date (like 2020) so it doesn't appear at the top of your blog feed. The hub reads it by tag regardless of date.

Tip: Once you've set it up the first time, you never create a new post — you just edit this same one every month.
2

Individual products — caption format

For each product: add an image block, upload your product photo, then add a caption. The caption tells the hub everything it needs to know.

The format:

Brand | Product Name | $Price | category | https://link.com

Real examples:

Example captions Ralph Lauren | Classic Fit Linen Shirt | $148 | tops | https://ralphlauren.com/...
Amazon | High Waist Wide Leg Pants | $34 | jeans | https://amzn.to/...
Kate Spade | Suede Crescent Bag | $298 | bags | https://katespade.com/...
Nordstrom | Pointed Toe Slingback | $89 | shoes | https://nordstrom.com/...
Ulta | Soft Glam Palette | $18 | beauty | https://ulta.com/...
Target | Linen Co-ord Set | $45 | sale | https://target.com/...
Matching Set? Add it as a 6th field at the end:
Amazon | Linen Two-Piece Set | $58 | tops | https://... | Matching Set
3

Shop the Look — caption format

For a complete outfit, upload the images in order: flat lay first, then each individual piece. Typically 4 items — jewelry, bag, shoes, and top/bottom or jacket.

1
Upload your flat lay image. Caption:
LOOK | Black & White Office Look
2
Upload item 1 (e.g. the top). Caption:
LOOK-ITEM | Zara | Sailor Stripe Tee | $45 | https://...
3
Upload item 2 (e.g. the pants). Caption:
LOOK-ITEM | H&M | Wide Leg Trousers | $35 | https://...
4
Upload item 3 (e.g. the bag). Caption:
LOOK-ITEM | Amazon | Chain Shoulder Bag | $42 | https://...
5
Upload item 4 (e.g. the shoes). Caption:
LOOK-ITEM | Target | Pointed Slingbacks | $29 | https://...
Order matters. The flat lay (LOOK) must come first, immediately followed by its items (LOOK-ITEM). The hub groups everything between one LOOK and the next together as a single outfit card.

Category keywords

Use exactly one of these in the category spot. Copy-paste to avoid typos:

tops
bottoms
jeans
dresses
outerwear
knitwear
swimwear
activewear
shoes
bags
jewelry
beauty
occasion
sale
gift-all
gift-mothers
gift-fathers
gift-holiday
gift-justbecause
Bottoms = skirts, shorts, trousers, wide-leg pants (anything non-denim)
Outerwear = jackets, coats, blazers, vests
Knitwear = sweaters, cardigans, knit sets
Occasion = event dresses, formalwear, wedding guest
Sale items automatically get the "On Sale" badge — no extra step needed.

LOOK-ITEM captions don't need a category — they inherit the look and aren't filtered individually.

Your monthly workflow (5 minutes)

  • Open your monthly-edit blog post in Squarespace
  • Delete last month's images (or keep favorites)
  • Upload new product photos — individual picks and/or flat lay looks
  • Write the caption for each image: Brand | Product Name | $Price | category | link
  • Hit Save — the hub updates automatically. Done.
No code to paste. No arrays to update. No developer needed.
The hub reads your blog post every time someone visits the page.
