I Came to Kai Cenat’s VIVET Debut as a Viewer. The Clothes Have My Attention.

I watched Kai Cenat’s VIVET Collection 1 debut live during New York Fashion Week, and I’m not going to lie: I was impressed. I knew he had been working on the collection, but seeing it come together made me want to take a closer look at the clothes.

There is a lot to unpack here from the cargo jacket and hooded sweaters to the fact that he even launched a streaming backpack. Looking through the women’s collection, some pieces gave me more to be excited about than others. The jacket has details that make a fairly simple outfit interesting. The sweats are easy to picture wearing. The clear heels left me wanting a little more.

So let’s get into the actual collection: what works, what could be stronger, and how I would style the pieces.

Who is Kai Cenat?

If you’re unfamiliar with Kai Cenat, he’s a streamer and YouTube creator known for his personality, comedy, celebrity guests, and big livestream events. His Mafiathon streams combine planned segments with everyday moments, and viewers follow along over an extended streaming marathon.

I first discovered Kai during Mafiathon 2 and became a huge viewer because of that stream. There are so many streamers, but Kai has been my favorite because of his personality, the way he comes up with segments, and how he keeps challenging himself.

After his most recent Mafiathon, he took a long break, and I missed watching him. But when he started sharing that he was working on VIVET, I was curious. Now that I’ve watched the debut, I’m excited to see where he takes it. And the best way to explain why is to look at the pieces.

The cargo jacket is one of the strongest pieces

The VIVET Cargo Jacket is $580, and what makes it interesting is the finish. It has that slightly worn-in look, with a corduroy collar, several front pockets, and a wide, boxy shape. The details give you something to notice even though the colors are dark and fairly simple.

VIVET says it is made from heavyweight canvas, with a wash and wax treatment applied to create that finish. It is also lined, lightly padded, and slightly oversized. There is a small shoulder pad, which helps explain why the shoulders look more defined.

I would wear this with a fitted top and straight-leg trousers, or over a slim dress. The jacket already has width, so keeping the layer underneath close to the body would make the outfit easier to balance. You could wear wider pants too, but I would keep the top underneath tucked in so everything doesn’t look oversized at once.

The part I would want to check before spending $580 is how it feels in person. The photos give me a reason to look closer, but at that price, the fabric and finish need to feel as good as they look.

He even made a streaming backpack

The VIVET Streaming Backpack is $550, and this is one of the most interesting ideas in the collection. Kai knows streaming, so making a bag for people who do it gives this launch a connection to something he actually spends his time doing.
The bag comes in Char and Chalk and combines leather and mesh. It has a long shape, an opening at the top that works as a handle, a large flap pocket, and a smaller zip compartment below it. The straps and pockets give it a practical look, while the leather makes it feel more dressed up.

I like that the streaming part of his life still has a place in what he is building. For someone who first started watching him during Mafiathon 2, this is an easy connection to understand.

What I still want to see is a proper demonstration. What equipment fits inside? How do you arrange everything? Where do the cables go? The product description says it is designed for streaming, but it doesn’t explain much about the setup. Showing that would make it much easier to understand what you are getting for $550.

The sweaters have details that make them worth a second look

The VIVET Balaclava Sweater is $395. The hood and thick-looking knit are what stand out first, especially in the beige Dune color. There is enough texture to make it interesting without adding a bold print or a lot of branding.

One detail to know before ordering VIVET describes it as a slim fit and says it is 100 percent cotton. It may look chunky in the photo, but I wouldn’t assume that means it fits like a big, loose sweater. I would wear it with straight-leg jeans or trousers and let the hood be the main detail.

The VIVET Beginner Half Zip Sweater is $320 and has a different feel. The body looks shorter, the sleeves are roomy, and the edges have a worn, unfinished appearance. Those details keep it from looking like a standard half-zip.

What works here is the shorter length. You can get that roomy sweater look without covering the whole top of your pants. For someone who likes relaxed clothes but still wants the outfit to have some shape, that is a useful detail.

The bodysuit makes sense, but I wanted more to pair it with

The VIVET Bodysuit is $179. It has long sleeves and a high neckline, but the dark, uneven finish is what makes it different from a plain black bodysuit. VIVET describes it as four-way-stretch polyester with a hand-applied wax treatment.

I can see this working underneath the cargo jacket. You would have a fitted layer under a roomier one, and the worn-looking finishes would connect the two. It would also be easy to wear with a skirt or tailored pants you already own.

That is where I wanted a little more from the women’s collection. When I looked through the nine products listed in the shop, sweatpants were the only bottoms. I would have liked to see a skirt or trousers designed to go with this bodysuit. There is a good start here, but I wanted to see more complete outfit options from VIVET itself.

The sweats are wearable, but they didn’t surprise me as much

The VIVET Beginner Hoodie is $160 and the VIVET Beginner Sweatpant is $140, so the full set comes to $300. The hoodie has a shorter body, and the pants have wide, open hems instead of a tight cuff at the ankle.

The maroon color works especially well. It gives you a richer color option alongside the beige, brown, and gray shades elsewhere in the collection. I can picture the set with sneakers for an everyday outfit, or the hoodie worn separately with jeans.

But a hoodie and sweatpants are familiar pieces. These look easy to wear, and I understand their place in the collection, but the jacket and hooded knit give me more to talk about. Before buying the set, I would want to know how soft the fabric is, how the pants fit at the waist, and whether the hoodie keeps its shape.

The clear heels are where I wanted something more

The VIVET 100mm Transparent Heel is $220. It has a clear PVC upper, a clear V-shaped heel, and a leather footbed. The pointed toe could look good with the wide sweatpants, and the clear shoe would keep an outfit with a heavier jacket from feeling too bulky.

As a styling choice, I understand it. As a piece from this particular collection, it doesn’t feel as memorable. Clear heels are something we have seen before, and the V-shaped heel doesn’t give me as much to get excited about as the details on the jacket or sweaters.

I would like to see Kai take the shoes a little further in a future collection. The clothing has texture and a worn-in look that makes it recognizable as a group. I wanted the shoes to have a stronger connection to that.

What I want to see next from VIVET

What works for me is that I can picture how several of these pieces would fit into a wardrobe. The colors are easy to combine, the jackets and sweaters have details worth noticing, and the streaming backpack gives the collection something connected to Kai’s own experience.

I also wanted more women’s outfit options and a stronger idea for the shoes. Being impressed with a debut doesn’t mean every piece has to be a favorite. It means there is enough here to make me interested in what comes next.

I started watching Kai because I enjoyed his streams. After watching this show and looking through VIVET Collection 1, I have another reason to follow what he is doing. The cargo jacket, knitwear, and streaming backpack give him a good place to build from.
