The Old Navy x Christopher John Rogers Collection Just Dropped — And I’m Not Calm

A Black designer. A legendary Black icon as the face. 46 bold pieces under $85. Here’s what a style editor is actually buying.

I DON’T USUALLY STOP SCROLLING FOR A COLLAB DROP

But when I saw Christopher John Rogers’ name next to Old Navy’s, I genuinely had to set my phone down for a second. Because this isn’t the usual brand-slaps-their-logo-on-a-basic-tee situation. This is a Black designer who dressed Kamala Harris for the inauguration, who won the CFDA’s Emerging Designer award, who is known for exactly the kind of bold, sculptural, color-drenched fashion that most women never get to wear because the price tags are out of reach partnering with the most accessible retailer in America. Under $85. In sizes XS through 4X.

And then they cast Kimora Lee Simmons her and her daughters Ming and Aoki as the face of the whole thing. A Black icon fronting a Black designer’s collab at a store where real women actually shop. I don’t know who made this decision but they deserve a raise.

WHO IS CHRISTOPHER JOHN ROGERS (AND WHY IT MATTERS)

If you’re not deep in the fashion world, here’s what you need to know: Christopher John Rogers is a Louisiana-born Black designer who built his name on maximalist color, architectural silhouettes, and a deep commitment to dressing women all women in pieces that feel genuinely joyful. His runway prices typically start in the hundreds. His aesthetic is bold, unapologetically expressive, and rooted in a kind of American glamour that doesn’t apologize for taking up space.

The fact that he’s now made 46 pieces you can grab at your local Old Navy is genuinely exciting. This is what democratizing fashion actually looks like — not a watered-down version of the designer’s aesthetic, but a real translation of his signature polka dots, sculptural volumes, and intentional color into pieces that fit real budgets and real bodies.

What The Collection Actually Looks Like

Forty-six pieces across denim, cotton poplin, and jersey. The palette leans into chartreuse, rich warm browns, and unexpected color combinations that somehow work together. The prints are off-kilter polka dots, oversized stripes, and florals that feel more couture than craft store. And the silhouettes drop-waist midis, barrel-leg jeans, twisted halter tops, peplum details carry Rogers’ signature sculptural quality.

What makes this feel different from most retail collabs is that it’s designed to be mixed and matched. The matching scarves can be tied as a bandeau top. The oversized shirt layers over the skirt. The pieces are meant to play together, which means a few key items can build a lot of looks.

♥  Size note: The full collection runs XS–4X, which is not a footnote — it’s the point. Rogers’ aesthetic was designed to look incredible on curves and full figures. The volume, the prints, the color — it all reads even better with presence.

My 7 Picks From The Collection

I went through the full 46 pieces and these are the ones I’d actually wear and would actually recommend. In order from ‘grab first’ to ‘grab before it sells out.’

01.  Drop-Waist Midi Skirt  —  $59.99

  ★  Editor’s Pick

Model wearing the Old Navy x Christopher John Rogers dark wash denim twisted halter peplum top and matching midi skirt with red heels and a colorful headscarf.

Why I love it:  This is the piece I keep coming back to. The drop waist is Rogers’ signature move — it creates a long, lean line through the torso and lets the skirt flare from the hip rather than the waist. In a polka-dot or floral print, it reads more runway than retail. The matching scarf is sold separately but worth grabbing — tie it as a bandeau under the skirt’s waistband for a full coordinated look.

Style it with:  The matching scarf as a bandeau top for a head-to-toe moment, or a simple fitted white tee tucked in to let the print do the work. Black mules or a strappy sandal.

02.  Halter Maxi Dress  —  $64.99

Model wearing the Old Navy x Christopher John Rogers chartreuse yellow drop-waist halter maxi dress with white strappy heels.

Why I love it:  A maxi that actually has architecture to it. The halter neckline elongates the neck and shoulders, and the drop-waist construction gives the skirt a beautiful sweep without clinging anywhere. This is the one to wear to a summer event when you want to look like you tried without actually trying. In the right print, it photographs incredibly.

Style it with:  Flat strappy sandals to keep it relaxed, or a wedge heel to add height. Gold hoops and nothing else. The dress does all the talking.

03.  High-Waisted Barrel Jeans  —  $69.99

Full length view of Old Navy x Christopher John Rogers high-waisted barrel jeans in a medium wash denim paired with lime green strappy sandals.

Why I love it:  The barrel jean is having a serious moment and Rogers’ version is the best under-$70 option I’ve seen. The high waist defines the waistline, and the barrel-leg silhouette — fuller through the thigh, tapered at the ankle — is genuinely flattering on a wide range of body types. These are cut more like trousers than typical denim, which means they sit and move differently. In the best way.

Style it with:  The CJR Oversized Button-Down Jean Shirt for a denim-on-denim moment, or a tucked-in bold printed top. White sneakers or loafers. This is the everyday piece of the collection.

04.  Twisted Halter Peplum Top  —  $44.99

  ★  Best for curvy figures

Close up of a model wearing the Old Navy x Christopher John Rogers dark wash denim twisted halter peplum top paired with blue jeans.

Why I love it:  This is the statement-maker. The twisted detail at the neckline is pure Christopher John Rogers — it’s structural, interesting, and completely unexpected at this price point. The peplum creates a defined waist and skims over the hip. Pair it with the midi skirt for a head-to-toe collab look or with your own trousers for something a little more editorial.

Style it with:  The Drop-Waist Midi Skirt for the full coordinated look, or high-waisted wide-leg trousers in a neutral. Earrings big enough to be seen from across the room.

05.  Oversized Button-Down Jean Shirt  —  $54.99

Model wearing the Old Navy x Christopher John Rogers oversized button-down jean shirt with voluminous sleeves and a pointed collar.

Why I love it:  The piece that bridges the gap between statement and wearable. Oversized so it layers easily over the midi skirt or belted as a dress on its own. The denim fabrication keeps it grounded while the CJR proportions keep it from reading as basic. This is the piece you’ll still be reaching for in October.

Style it with:  Over the Drop-Waist Midi Skirt half-tucked for volume, or belted as a shirt dress with the barrel jeans underneath (unbuttoned from the hem). Sneakers or ankle boots.

06.  Matching Scarf  —  $24.99

Folded Old Navy x Christopher John Rogers silk-style scarf featuring a bold black and yellow off-kilter polka dot print with a white border.

Why I love it:  The lowest-price piece in the collection and one of the smartest buys. This scarf matches the print on the midi skirt, which means it’s designed to be tied as a bandeau top for a full coordinated two-piece look. But it also works as a head wrap, a bag accessory, or a belt. For $24.99, it’s the piece that ties the whole outfit together — literally.

Style it with:  Tied as a bandeau with the matching midi skirt for the full set look. Or knotted around a bun with locs or natural hair for an editorial touch.

07.  Halter Swimsuit  —  $59.99

Model wearing the Old Navy x Christopher John Rogers multi-color vertical stripe halter swimsuit and matching oversized striped button-down shirt with white heels.

Why I love it:  Because the color and print sensibility extends to swim. A halter construction means adjustable coverage and neck support for fuller busts. Rogers’ prints in a swimsuit context are genuinely stunning — this is the pool or beach look that photographs like a magazine shot without the magazine price tag.

Style it with:  A linen cover-up in a neutral, a wide-brim hat, and the matching scarf as a wrap around the waist. This is vacation content.

How To Shop This Collection Without Being Overwhelmed

Forty-six pieces is a lot. Here’s how I’d approach it: start with one print you love and build from there. The collection is designed to coordinate within itself, so if you grab the midi skirt in a polka dot, the matching scarf and the peplum top will work with it automatically. Then layer in the barrel jeans and oversized shirt for a denim foundation you can mix with the louder pieces.

⏰  Shop fast: This is a limited collaboration. Based on the Anna Sui x Old Navy collab that dropped in October 2025, the most popular pieces sold out within days. Extended sizes especially. If you see your size, don’t wait on it.

The full collection is live now at OldNavy.com and in select Old Navy stores. All 46 pieces, XS–4X, $24.99–$84.99.
